What we do:
The knowledge, skill and training of Dr. G Paul Dempsey and our staff at Quinte Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine are in the assessment and management of medical problems, developmental delays and children with special needs. Much of this work is achieved through our medical consultation and Special Kids, Special Care services, both of which are provided by referral only. Depending on the needs of the individual of each case, patients may be treated by our medical staff or by specialists at one or more of the many treatment centres we work with.
Some of the medical issues we work with include: premature infants, heart disease, asthma, thyroid, seizures, cerebral palsy, congenital heart diseases, renal, respiratory, neurological, skin, and immunological problems as well as genetic, developmental and growth disorders.
What we don’t do:
Unfortunately due to the volume of patients and limited access to pediatric specialists in the Quinte area, there are certain services that we do not provide. These include primary care, assessment and treatment of behavioural concerns, non-medical issues, school problems, family mediation, and counselling and psychiatric problems.
Who we see:
We see patients from birth to age 18, typically within the geographical area of Oshawa to Kingston and Prince Edward County to Bancroft.
Who we work with:
Along with local QHC hospitals, we also work with Sick Kids, Holland Bloorview Kids Rehabilitation Hospital, Mount Sinai Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario, Shriners Hospital for Children (Montreal) and Kingston General Hospital. We also refer to and except patients from a variety of other specialized clinics and physicians in Canada and beyond.
