Examples of Children with Special Needs
· Complex congenital heart disease · Down Syndrome · Developmental Delays where multiple systems of the body are involved · Seizures if other systems involved (i.e. developmental delays)
What do we do for our Children with Special Needs?
· Shared Care:
Children with special needs continue ongoing primary care with their family doctor.
We monitor and coordinate care for medical issues which require specialized training,
or additional time not available to most family physicians.
· Three to Six Month Follow-up:
Usually we see children with special needs every six months in follow-up to review
developmental progress and monitor complex medical needs.
